How to Get the Most Out of Your Athleisure Wear

Athleisure is a trend that’s here to stay. Activewear has been uber-popular throughout 2018 and 2019 for a whole host of reasons like comfort, style, and durability. It’s therefore no surprise that the market is full of competitors, each with their own set of designs.

If you don’t take care of your activewear, however, you’re bound to go through many activewear pieces if you don’t take care of them.

Here are some ways to care for your activewear pieces so that they last a long time:

Separate colors from whites and textures

Basic laundry rules apply to athleisure as well. Often people assume that activewear pieces won’t bleed or that their texture won’t get affected in the wash. Always make sure you’re separating the colored pieces from the whites. You never know which piece bleeds and ruins your white or light-colored activewear pieces. Use detergents that preserve the color of the fabric and prevent them from fading as well.

Avoid mixing textures when washing your activewear pieces as well. Mixing fluffier textures with flat ones can affect their look and wear them out quicker than expected.

Always use the delicate cycle

While activewear is meant to be durable, you shouldn’t take for granted that it can withstand all kinds of washing. Since sweat and bacteria are what you need to remove from your athleisure wear, a gentle cycle with good-quality detergent is all you need. Always wash your activewear pieces in cold water as well. Hot water damages lycra and will end up destroying your pieces in no time!

Air dry them

Never throw your activewear pieces in the dryer once they are done with a wash. The hot air in the dryer negatively impacts lycra and damages activewear. It breaks down the elasticity of the athleisure pieces. Air drying them is the best option. Our pieces are made with lightweight fabrics and therefore dry within no time!

Never use bleach or fabric softeners

Harsh detergents affect the fibers of your activewear pieces as well. Even if you’re tempted to apply fabric softeners to these pieces for a fresh fragrance, you need to know how damaging they can be. Bleach and fabric softeners mess with the specific design of our activewear pieces.
